He hints at seeking out the Nailsmith before proceeding further past the boss fight. If the Knight has entered the deeper part of the Mantis Village where the Mantis Lords can be found, Quirrel can be encountered in the east part of Mantis Village. He leaves if the Knight acquires the Mantis Claw or leaves Queen's Station. He comments on the activity such place must have had during the kingdom's peak. Inside the station, Quirrel can be found sitting on the edge of a platform above the entrance to the Stagway. He leaves if the Knight acquires the Mantis Claw. He tells the Knight that their Nail is looking a little worn and that they may not fare as well below the surface. Quirrel is found sitting on a rock next to the Bench inside the structure, polishing his nail. He leaves if the Knight enters the room west of the False Knight. He explains that many travellers have come down into the ruins and fallen, and lightly suggests that they may have useful belongings that the Knight could use. He is aware that both the Knight and himself are ill-equipped for this perilous journey. He briefly talks about how he feels drawn to Hallownest. Hollow Knight Review - An Exceptional AdventureĢ9 August 2018 In-game events Temple of the Black Egg After helping the Knight kill Monomon by removing the protection on her, he goes to the Blue Lake to see the source of the rain in the City of Tears. Quirrel can initially be found at the Temple of the Black Egg, but he can be encountered in several locations around Hallownest. Hornet allows Quirrel to enter Hallownest when she recognizes Monomon’s mask. After entering the Howling Cliffs, Quirrel meets Hornet, whom he briefly fights. He had dreams of Hallownest the City of Tears, Fog Canyon, the Forgotten Crossroads, the Temple of the Black Egg, and the Hollow Knight. He was called back to Hallownest by Monomon in order to reverse the protection placed on her. Quirrel lost much of his memory eventually. In the official comic, it is shown that Quirrel ended up outside of Hallownest. Quirrel can be seen wearing this mask on top of his head. ![]() When Monomon became a Dreamer, she entrusted Quirrel with her mask, which was part of an additional protection enacted upon herself. Continue up the chasm until you reach the next area, then head right and you'll encounter the Moss Knight miniboss.Before the fall of Hallownest, Quirrel used to be Monomon’s apprentice. ![]() Pay the 50 Geo required to unlock it, then rest at the bench to update the map and save your progress. Head left and continue along the path and you'll soon run into the large leaf-covered Moss Chargers.Ĭontinue to the left until you begin seeing thorns, then head up through the shaft until you reach a toll gate. Hug the wall on the right, and you’ll soon reach the bottom of the shaft and a pool of acid. Slash the other vine ahead of you to unlock a shortcut, then hop down through the floor and into the next area.Ĭontinue downward, slashing vines and dropping slabs to create a pathway forward. Head back to the left and slice the remaining vine holding up the large stone slab (if you didn't already), then drop down on top of it and hop across the spikes and up to the ledge on the left. Continue right to find Cornifer and buy the Greenpath map for 60 Geo. Hop up onto the stones suspended by vines, then slash the vines to create platforms and open up the path forward. Once you reach the bottom, head right and you’ll soon hear the ho-hum of our friend, Cornifer. They will soon move to the next area, and you don’t have the means to follow them at the moment, so descend down the shaft instead. Once you reach the terminus, you’ll see another warrior standing on a ledge. Sit to save your progress, then continue along the path to the left. One of the first enemies you’ll encounter will spout clouds of poison, so either employ hit and run tactics, or use Vengeful Spirit to dispatch them and continue moving left through the area.Īfter traveling a few screens, the path will branch upwards, and following that branch will reveal the first Bench. Be cautious when walking through the wooded corridors of Greenpath, as enemies will often emerge from the ground without warning. Cross the elevated platforms and be careful not to fall into the acid. Greenpath has new creatures to contend with and new hazards to avoid.
